Ramble On (IV)... (including Gibson)

Our friends at Gibson Guitar took a bold step by sponsoring a new float in the Macy's Thanksgiving Day parade. Smart move. Good company with a lot of PR upside to come. See this news release via PR Newswire:

MUSIC BIGGER THAN LIFE, by GIBSON GUITAR
Music lives this Thanksgiving as the Music Bigger Than Life float makes its Broadway debut. Music surrounds us, overwhelms us and makes us feel alive and the newest float in the Parade line-up does the same. Featuring a massive Gibson "Les Paul" Guitar as its centerpiece, the float takes music to a whole new scale as giant instruments take center stage. An oversized drum kit, giant amplifier and classic piano hit the right notes on the over-the-top float as it rocks to the holiday beat. Headlining and stopping traffic, country superstar Wynonna will perform her rendition of "I'll Be Home For Christmas."

Pretty good stuffing...

Boston University (BU) will play Cornell in men's college ice hockey on Nov. 24th at NYC's Madison Square Garden. A great idea to turn a generation of fans onto the great sport that is college ice hockey.

Tickets are about $25.

###

The Boston Globe does a very nice job with "Globe Santa." Among the many charitable events is a give away for tickets to "White Christmas" at the Wang Theatre in Boston.

Euroleague.net is conducting a promotion for an online tutorial by CSKA coach Ettore Messina, the former Italian national team coach and someday NBA assistant or head coach (a la Mike D'Antoni). The euroleague web site promoted 'study with Ettore' on its web site home page and the Euroleague institute. The problem? The link didn't work.

I miss David Aldridge's column on Thanksgiving, always a reminder of the best people in sports. To the contrary, I can live without a Thanksgiving list telling me that rip-off, rogue ref Tim Donaghy is a 'turkey.' No kidding. A turkey I know is insulted by the comparison.

###

I didn't even think of watching Indianapolis vs Atlanta on the NFL network on Thanksgiving night. Two games is just right. At Detroit, then at Dallas. Don't insult us by adding a third game. The NFL Network titanic tassle with Time Warner and the others has turned me off even more. Viva the Tennis Channel.

###

The Boston Sports Media round-up blog is among my many favorites.

The CFL wants to support an NFL team in Toronto. The Buffalo Bills will be the team to be moved later.
