Things We Said Today

This has been a terrific week for fans of The Beatles. We started on Sunday night with a CBS network produced special taped as part of the 2014 GRAMMY award celebration in downtown Los Angeles. The special featured an amazing array of artists covering the band's greatest hits and a few other iconic selections.

The highlight, of course, was an on-stage and musical reunion of Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr, the two surviving members of the band. Both Paul and Ringo performed individually, then joined together for the show's finale. All the time, viewers just wondered aloud and truly imagined what would've been if the late John Lennon and the late George Harrison could have joined their mates on stage.

Undoubtedly, if Lennon and Harrison were still alive and able to perform, the occasion of the 50th anniversary of The Beatles' performance on The Ed Sullivan Show would have coaxed the Fab Four back together to celebrate their arrival on U.S. soil and the full-scale launch of their place as the most single most impactful Rock n' Roll band of all time.

Assuming you have seen some of the Ed Sullivan Show footage, so prominent this week and online regularly, I surfed for a slightly more obscure piece of footage.  This clip is from The Beatles first US tour, filmed at a stop in Indianapolis.

The annual GRAMMY Award Show is a little like Christmas Day for all of us in the Entertainment industry. They all came out! Sting, Bonnie Raitt, Emmylou Harris, John Legend and a host of other greats, all doing their favorite Bruce Springsteen songs.
