On Broadway ...

My wife and kids watch a pretty cool show, "SMASH," airing on NBC and produced by Steven Spielberg among others. Season II recently featured a scene of the cast gathering for a party where, to cause a slight distraction to the gathered press, all attendees are entertained by Katherine McPhee/Karen Cartwright and Veronica/Jennifer Hudson doing an impromptu duet.  They covered George Benson's "On Broadway," one of the great bass vibe/funk/ and certainly one of the underrated jam songs of all time.

My curiosity went right to the original version, and of course, there were several awaiting on YouTube.  Here is a great rendition, also an impromptu show where George Benson got up from the audience at NYC's "Cafe Wha?":

If that's not enough, here's the original when Benson was a few years younger (1986 from Montreux), although the beat seems a bit fast to me?
