The NHL scored with its Winter Classic outdoor game(s) staged on New Year's Day each of the past two years, but how about this Russian League All-Star Game (click on 'Great Photo" headline above.

To top this setting, the NHL would need to stage an outdoor game on The Mall in DC, although Wrigley Field was pretty good.

Some people have suggested Fenway Park or Harvard Stadium for a Boston-based game. I think the infrastructure of Harvard Stadium and lack of parking would make it a terrible place to play.

The New Yankee Stadium would be an interesting venue but that would have to wait until 2011 or 2012. Soldier Field or Lambeau might bring NFL conflicts. So, the NHL might have to look North to Toronto or Montreal for the next Winter Classic.
