JULY 10 - One of the other tough assignments in this 'gig' of departing a job after 26 years, is packing up one's office. I tried my best to chip away at some of the things, especially in late May and early June, but one thing would lead to another and the pace of the action and the sheer amount of NBA and USA Basketball work did not allow me the time to delve into the files and sort through the clutter, nevermind organize the thousands of business cards, notes, and contacts that I gather on a daily basis.
I did pack up some of my favorite things and - along with some help from the good folks at NBA administration, we secured all of my dear belongings and stored them safely. For use in another office? Another life? A museum? On display at a casino? A sports bar? Or, maybe, just a nice den and media room that I can call my own.
