Patriot's Day in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts

Yesterday was Patriot's Day, a holiday ritual when the people of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts stop to remember the first battle of the Revolutionary War, and, oh, by the way, they did so on a day in 2011 when a world record was set in the 115th running of the Boston Marathon.

Patriot's Day is always a very special day in Boston, Massachusetts as the running of the Boston Marathon binds the city together with its surrounding communities as spring tips its hat to droves of New Englanders who are rewarded with a state holiday.  Patriot's Day also is celebrated with an 11:00am first pitch of a Boston Red Sox baseball game at Fenway Park.

More important than the current day sports scene, we must remember that Patriot's Day is a monumental day in American history as it marks the date of the first armed battle of the American revolutionary war, the Battle of Lexington and Concord.
