Countdown to Pitchers & Catchers...
CBS Sportsline.com has the countdown clock and as I type this, it is ticking down past zero days, 16 hours, 40+ minutes and counting.
All of the MLB baseball news is on Roger Clemens and his testimony as the 'appointment calendar' date of the annual sports schedule approaches and, once again, the escape that sports should become for all of us is ruined by the cold reality of what sports HAS become for all of us.
The truth?
I am sick of all of it. Disgusted with it. Had enough of it. I stopped reading about it. Barry Bonds, Roger Clemens, Michael Vick, trainers, equipment guys, rumours, congressional hearings, Arlen Specter waisting our time and taxpayer money. As Tim Duncan once told me, when he was just sick of doing interviews, "I'm DONE."
Give me the crack of the bat. Give me a call of a game - any game - on the radio.
(Yes, I have my XM Radio for satellite delivery of games and yes, I signed up -- make that renewed -- the MLB.com's Audio and Video package, and yes, I will do the MLB Extra Innings package for our Time-Warner, Manhattan Cable TV).
Clare and the kids have to have their Sox, right?
Pitchers and catchers are reporting. Some of the stars reported early today.
Happy Valentine's Day, one and all. Except you, Arlen Specter.

I agree with you. I'm sick of all the Clemens stuff and want to read about the spring training baseball stuff.
