How do you like that? A slow news day combines with the start of the BIG EAST and a St. John's upset over UCONN and the Johnnie's are back on the "Back Page" of the NY tabs. Both the NY Daily News and the NY Post ran banner St. John's headlines, reminding us all of the days of yesteryear when the Johnnie's would dominate the headlines at this time of year.
The 'comp' gets a lot tougher for the Tuesday play-in teams when the likes of South Florida, St. John's, Seton Hall and Cincy that on teams that had a one-day bye (South Fla vs Georgetown; St. John's vs Marquette; Seton Hall vs. ND and Cincy vs Louisville).
The BIG BOYS begin play in the BIG EAST on Thursday.
It doesn't seem like all that long ago when the tournament had eight teams which all began play Thursday and we all looked forward to the day when both day and night sessions were packed with fans and great match-ups.
