PAPEL-BOMB?

This just in from Fenway via Boston.com blog...

It's wait 'Til next year for the Sox:

Closer Jonathan Papelbon, nearly perfect in the postseason, allowed two inherited runners to score in the eighth inning then gave up three of his own in the ninth to send the Red Sox home. The game-winning rally started with two outs and nobody on. Papelbon was a pitch away three times:

Erick Aybar, down 0-2 in the count, singled.

Chone Figgins, on a 3-2 pitch, walked.

Bobby Abreu, on a 1-2 pitch, doubled.

After Torii Hunter was intentionally walked, Vladimir Guerrero singled into center to drive in two runs.

Coming into today, Papelbon had thrown 26 scoreless innings in 17 career postseason games.

The Angels will go on to face the winner of the Yankees-Twins series. The Yankees have a chance to wrap it up tonight.
