On this date in ...December 16, 1773: Over 5,000 American patriots descended upon the Old South Meeting House, the largest building in colonial Boston, poised to alter the course of a fledgling nation.
It was the most effective piece of political theater ever staged. After a heated debate about the fate of three shiploads of tea docked in Boston Harbor, Samuel Adams gave the secret signal that throw 342 crates of tea into the sea!
Today many historians believe this bold act of defiance was the spark that led to the American Revolution.
Little did they know that future Boston "T" parties will indeed, take place.
