The Latest from STR Marketplace; New Deal with Colts

Here is the latest from the Indianapolis News on STR Marketplace's new del with the Indianapolis Colts:

Colts fans can make a buck by selling their season ticket rights online | IndyStar.com

Indianapolis Colts season ticket holders now can profit from selling their season ticket rights online.
Fans can log on to colts.strmarketplace .com to list the price and number of Lucas Oil Stadium seats for sale. Minimum cost per ticket is $500 upper level and $1,000 lower level. The buyer and seller share in a transaction fee, then the buyer inherits the ticket contract with the team.

"This gives them the opportunity to put them on the open market and move them more quickly," said Tom Zupancic, Colts senior vice president of sales and marketing.

The program will benefit fans moving out of state or those who decide they no longer can afford season tickets, he said.

It's similar to another Colts program that enables immediate family to transfer ownership for $100 a seat. There is no fee, however, when a ticket holder dies and passes on tickets within the immediate family.

The Colts have a season ticket waiting list of about 10,000 with a ticket renewal rate of 97 percent, team officials said.

The waiting list has had a lot of turnover. Fans placed on it before October 2008 have been offered season tickets, said Larry Hall, Colts vice president of ticket operations.

The team still offers programs for seat upgrades and additions, Hall said.

The Colts are the seventh NFL team to offer the online transfer program but first to do so without personal seat licenses. The others: Chicago, Pittsburgh, Baltimore, St. Louis, Cincinnati and Houston.
