Racing for the Children ....

We're about one month away from one of the greatest sporting days of the year, the New York City Marathon. I always enjoy the peace and quiet that falls over the east side in the early morning hours before the race. I enjoy the anticipation and the organization that takes over the city, as everyone seems to cooperate for the good of the event. In recent years, there seems to be another factor at stake. Many of the runners compete with a charity in mind. They run for some other, less fortunate people, who can't.

They run for their families. They run in memory of a relative lost during the terror attacks of Sept. 11, 2001. They run for their own peace of mind.

One such runner is a dear friend, relative and brother in law, William "Buddy" Gumina.

He is running for the Children's Hospital in Boston.

If you don't know about the Children's Hospital in Boston, please check it out. (by clicking on the link - Racing for the Children - above and while you are at it, drop a couple bucks into Buddy's listing. You can find it by typing Gumina in the last name.
